GEM IDENTIFICATION
The Third Course
Gem Identification consists of twelve lessons and takes a more practical look at the identification of gemstones. Topics include an introduction to gem identification, the tests that are commonly used to identify gemstones, an in-depth look at the individual color groupings (colorless or white, red, pink, orange, yellow, blue, green, violet or purple, brown, black or grey), and a separate lesson devoted to gemstones that are either phenomenal or unusual in appearance.
Each lesson also includes testing methods that can be used to distinguish gemstones that are commonly confused with each other (i.e. aquamarine and blue topaz) and all imitation, lab-created and treated/enhanced gemstones that are commonly found in the individual color groupings.
