The Fourth Course
Diamonds consists of five lessons and covers the physical and optical properties of diamonds, their geological environments, principal localities and mines, crystallography, chemical composition and classification, fancy colors, causes of color, absorption spectra, pleochroism, inclusions, fluorescence, mining, and cutting.
You will also learn about the 4 C’s (color, clarity, cut, and carat weight) and how they are measured and assessed. The segment on ‘Cut’ also includes a comprehensive overview of the various criteria used by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the American Gem Society (AGS), Hoge Raad Diamant (HRD), the International Gemological Institute (IGI), and more…
